Q: When and where are the meetings?
A:  We meet once a month on the third Thursday. Meetings are held downstairs at the Corvallis Arts Center (ArtCentric) from 7 p.m. to about 9 p.m. Enter through the back door on the south side of the building and turn left to go downstairs. A business agenda is held during the first 30-45 minutes, followed by a program.
Q: How do I join?
A:  Our meetings are open, so just drop by when you can and see if our group fits your interests. If you decide to join, simply respond to the annual call for dues in January. Dues are currently $25/year.
Q: What are the benefits of membership?
A:  As a member, you will receive our monthly newsletter and can take part in monthly programs, print critiques and other activities, which include occasional field trips, biennial group exhibits at the LaSells Stewart Center, and social events. The main benefit, of course, is the opportunity to share expertise, learn new things, meet fellow photographers and play a small role in expanding the appreciation of photography in the local community.
Q: How long has the group been in existence?
A:  The guild was originally formed by about five photographers in 1988 with the goal of providing a feedback forum and critique session--sort of like a photographers' support group. It became affiliated witht he Corvallis Art Center (now called ArtCentric) in the early 1990s, and has since grown to about 30 members.
Q: Is the group involved with digital photography or traditional film photography?
A:  Members are involved in all types of expressive photography (i.e., mostly non-commercial). Most currently use film cameras, including medium and large-format. Many also use digital cameras, Photoshop and archival inkjet printers. A few even meld film and digital processes. A sizeable number of members work in large format b+w, while a majority work primarily in color; most do both. Several alternative processes are practiced by members, including hand-coloring, infra-red, SX-70 manipulation, Polaroid transfer, platinum printing, etc. An increasing number are printing with pigment inks from Epson digital printers.
