PhotoArts Guild Socially Distanced Photo Excursions
April 2020
Because of social distancing and bans on travel, PhotoArts Guild members couldn’t get together for photo excursions as we normally would. Instead, we collected images made during the COVID-19 lockdown into galleries of images made by our members as they distance themselves and continue to create photography in these trying times.
Each member’s excursion is presented as its own collection of photographs with descriptions. Latest submissions are on the top, older ones further down.
What started as a single gallery of images has been broken down into three monthly galleries.
John Ritchie – Odd things
These are some of the odd and interesting things John sees on his Socially Distanced Photo walks.
Lisa Lacabanne – Neighborhood plus Cats
Scenes from Lisa’s neighborhood and from the Heartland Humane Society.
Eric French – Scenes of COVID Corvallis
John Morris – Adventures with Photoshop
John has been using some of his sequestration time to play around with Photoshop. He has been trying different ways of masking layers. Thus, a collage of some birds sighted from his kitchen window, all ignoring social distancing: Steller’s Jay, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Spotted Towhees, Oregon Juncos, Black-capped Chickadee. Also, playing around to produce swirling Dogwood flowers.
Rich Bergeman – Dixon Creek Ramblings
Rich has been applying his infrared camera to Dixon Creek as it wends its way through town.
See more of Rich’s series in May’s Gallery.
Bill Laing – Cactus and other findings
Bill sees lots of cactus, aloe, and other spiny plants on his walks around Tucson – as well as a bicycle memorial.
Bill Grubaugh – Under Siege
Bill, who lives in downtown San Francisco, has been sheltering in place for the last month or so. These are photographs he’s made mostly in his home.
Mark Meyer – House Cleaning
Mark is using his social distance to put order into his study, and is looking through stuff “5 to 48 years old.” The black and whites are from medium format Plus-X negatives, squirreled away for decades until he just now rediscovered them. Also included here are some more recent photos from a trip to Finley Wildlife Refuge.
Rich Bergeman – Treelines
Rich has been looking at trees with his infrared camera.
Jeff Hollenbeck – Virus Photos
Al Ryckman – Wood Ducks
Back from Hawaii, Al is still shooting birds.
Margie Kinch – Soap Creek
Margie got out to Soap Creek for some photography.
Shelley Curtis – Green Gables
Shelley went out to Green Gables flower stand and photographed some bouquets. And there’s a sundial too, although not at Green Gables.
Rich Bergeman – Flora and Fauna
Rich is seeing native animals and foreign plants on his walks.
